Yoon Jung Huh

Yoon Jung Huh, a dynamic flutist, distinguishes herself as a versatile soloist, chamber performer, and dedicated educator. Her musical journey has graced renowned stages worldwide, from Wiener Musikverein (Vienna Music Society), Lincoln Center, Kennedy Hall, and Boston Symphony Hall to the Seoul Arts Center, and the Sejong Performing Arts Center. After she made her debut at the age of 14 with Daegu Philharmonic Orchestra, performing Mozart's Flute Concerto No. 1 in G major, she has left an indelible mark as a soloist, collaborating with orchestras such as the Boston University Symphony Orchestra, Seoul Baroque Ensemble, and Daegu Philharmonic Orchestra.

Yoon Jung Huh's remarkable talents have garnered numerous accolades, with top prizes and honors from competitions spanning the United States, Europe, and Asia. These include awards from the Alexander and Bouno International Flute Competition, Boston University Soloists’ Competition, Dong-A International Music Competition, Busan Concours sponsored by the MBC Broadcasting Company, and Daegu Music Association Concours, among others.

Dr. Huh received her bachelor's degree in flute performance from Seoul National University, a master's degree from Carnegie Mellon University, and a Graduate Performance Diploma from the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University. In 2018, she earned her Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Boston University. She also taught students at Boston University and Rutgers University MGSA Community Arts in the past few years.

Currently, Dr. Huh serves as a flutist of the award-winning ensemble, Flano Duo and made her mark in 2022 with the release of her first album, featuring notable flute and piano duo repertoires with pianist Choah Kim. Flano Duo's second album, 'L'Après-Midi Romantique,' was released in November 2023, adding another dimension to their artistic contributions. Flano Duo was recently selected as the first prize winner in the chamber music category of the 2024 International Music Competition 'Vienna' Grand Prize Virtuoso. Beyond her performance career, Dr. Huh imparts her knowledge and passion as a faculty member at the Wardlaw + Hartridge School and through her private flute studio in New Jersey.

Additionally, she serves as the Co-President of the New Jersey Flute Society. In this role, Yoon plans and coordinates monthly events, the annual New Jersey Flute Fair, competitions, workshops, and masterclasses in New Jersey. With a passion for fostering a vibrant flute community, Yoon is committed to creating enriching experiences for fellow musicians and enthusiasts alike.

Dr. Huh is grateful for the guidance and mentorship of esteemed teachers such as Linda Toote, Marina Piccinini, Jeanne Baxtersser, Hyeri Yoon, and Joo Hee Lee.
